Montgomery County singer-songwriter Marilyn Hucek is set to appear on Season 30 of NBC’s The Voice on Monday, October 5.
Hucek told The MoCo Show that she grew up in Silver Spring and attended Rock Creek Forest Elementary School, Westland Middle School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. She later attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland and now resides in Washington, D.C.
In social media posts announcing her appearance on The Voice, Hucek shared more about the path that led her to the show. She said she left a five-year career in corporate fashion in New York City six years ago to pursue music full time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she built a home studio, connected with a producer and began independently releasing music.
She has also shared publicly how her music career was shaped by her late father’s 15-year battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Hucek wrote a song in his honor that became her debut single and has continued using her music and performances to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s.
Since launching her career, Hucek has released two EPs and a self-titled debut album and graduated from the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production, which was co-founded by producer duo Stargate.
“Tonight, I get to share my music and my story on Season 30 of The Voice in front of millions of people,” Hucek wrote on social media in announcing her appearance.
Hucek’s episode of The Voice is scheduled to air Monday, October 5 at 8 p.m. on NBC. She has accumulated more than 4 million streams during her music career.
