Jewish Memorial Park Breaks Ground on $2.5 Million Welcome Center in Clarksburg

Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park has begun construction on a $2.5 million Family Welcome Center at its 152-acre property in Clarksburg, according to a press release from the organization.

The one-story, 2,500-square-foot Peggy and Stan Smith Family Welcome Center is expected to open next spring at the memorial park, located at 14321 Comus Road.

The new building will provide space for families making current and advance arrangements and will permanently house staff and cemetery records. Plans also include conference rooms, a bereavement and resource library, archive storage and a display highlighting the memorial park’s history.

Garden of Remembrance has operated from a temporary administrative building for the past 26 years. The organization is conducting a capital campaign for the project and has raised all but $500,000 of its fundraising goal.

Garden of Remembrance is a nonprofit, multi-congregational Jewish cemetery that partners with 32 congregations representing a range of Jewish religious traditions. The Whiting-Turner Construction Company is serving as general contractor, with Gordon & Greenberg as architect.
