An Anne Arundel County woman won a $540,000 Maryland Lottery Multi-Match jackpot after making an unexpected stop at a gas station in Towson.
According to MD Lottery, the winner, who chose the nickname “Euphoria,” was returning from an event in Baltimore County when she stopped at the Shell gas station at 935 York Road. With $6 in cash, she spent $2 on a single-draw quick-pick Multi-Match ticket.
She checked the ticket on her phone the following day and initially believed she had won $100,000. After learning that a $540,000 jackpot-winning ticket had been sold at the same store, she realized the prize was hers.
The woman, who has worked as a data analyst for more than 20 years, claimed her prize on October 2. She plans to use the winnings for home improvements, a new car for one of her daughters and college tuition for her three children currently attending college. The Towson Shell will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
