Black Flag Brewing Company, located at 9315 Snowden River Parkway in Columbia, Maryland, has announced that it could close on November 30 if a pending sale of the business is not completed.
In a statement, Black Flag explained that the brewery’s initial 10-year lease expires on November 30, 2026, and that a contract was signed earlier this year to sell the business to another local brewing brand. The plan would allow the new owners to operate both brands from the Columbia location while retaining existing employees.
However, the purchase is currently only about 20% funded, raising concerns that the sale may not be completed before the lease expires. The brewery is now seeking backup offers, with priority given to buyers willing to retain the current staff. The statement also explained that the birth of the owner’s first child this year has made it difficult to dedicate the time needed to continue operating the business and pursue a lease extension.
Black Flag Brewing Company opened in 2016 and is known for its IPAs, Belgian-inspired beers and specialty releases. The brewery emphasized that the announcement is not a confirmation of closure and remains hopeful that a sale can be completed before November 30.
