Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) has received two national Best Practices Awards from StateWays magazine, recognizing its technology improvements and efforts to promote responsible alcohol sales.
ABS earned the “Best Technology Innovation” award for its digitized receiving and invoice automation system, which reduces paperwork, improves financial oversight and helps prevent errors and fraud.
The department also received the “Best Trade/Licensee Education Program” award for its Good Neighbor program, which recognizes businesses that pass compliance checks by refusing to sell or serve alcohol to anyone under 21. Businesses that fail receive additional training.
The awards will be presented Tuesday, October 20, at the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association’s Administrators Conference.
