Free Lyft Rides Offered for Halloween Weekend to Prevent Drunk Driving

Free Lyft rides will be available throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including Montgomery County, during Halloween weekend as part of an effort to prevent impaired driving.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) announced that its 2026 Halloween SoberRide program will operate from 10pm to 4am on both Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31.

Residents ages 21 and older can receive up to $15 toward a Lyft ride home by entering a special promotional code in the Lyft app. The codes will be posted at 9pm each evening at www.SoberRide.com and can be entered under the app’s Payment section using the Add Lyft Pass option. The offer is limited to one per person.

The program covers Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Washington, D.C., and portions of Northern Virginia.

According to WRAP, a record 4,056 people used the Halloween SoberRide program last October, the highest participation for a single campaign in the program’s 35-year history.

Since launching in 1991, SoberRide has provided more than 105,000 free rides throughout the Greater Washington area. The nonprofit also offers similar programs during other holidays, including New Year’s Eve, St. Patrick’s Day and Independence Day.

Additional information and promotional codes will be available at www.SoberRide.com.
