Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced a new $25 million grant program on Tuesday, October 20, to expand access to health care for uninsured Maryland residents.
The announcement came during the ninth annual Bloomberg American Health Initiative Summit. The Uncompensated Care Grant program will provide one year of funding to federally qualified health centers and eligible local health departments to support primary care, chronic disease management and behavioral health services.
The funding is intended to assist Marylanders who lose health insurance coverage due to changes in federal Medicaid requirements under H.R. 1, signed into law by President Donald Trump in July 2025.
Moore also highlighted the state’s efforts to address rising health care costs, including a premium assistance program for eligible residents that will continue through 2027, along with initiatives to protect access to Medicaid and SNAP benefits.
