On Tuesday, October 20, Montgomery County Councilmembers Kate Stewart, Kristin Mink and Evan Glass presented a proclamation recognizing International Pronouns Day, which was observed on Wednesday, October 21.
According to pronouns.org, International Pronouns Day was established in 2018 and is observed annually on the third Wednesday of October. The day aims to encourage the respectful use, sharing and understanding of personal pronouns, particularly for transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals who may experience being referred to by incorrect pronouns. The grassroots initiative encourages individuals, organizations and communities to promote awareness, education and inclusive practices through locally organized activities.
