Montgomery County has launched a new advertising campaign on Ride On buses highlighting local businesses and nonprofit organizations that have earned Green Business Certification.
The campaign was unveiled on Wednesday, October 28, at Fitzgerald Auto Malls on Rockville Pike. The event included County Council President Natali Fani-González, Councilmember Kate Stewart, representatives from the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bethesda Green and Fitzgerald Auto Malls.
For one month, Ride On buses will display advertisements featuring the logos of recently certified businesses. Each participating business will also be featured on the back of an individual bus.
Fitzgerald Auto Malls is among 33 businesses and nonprofits certified through the county’s Green Business Certification Program, which recognizes organizations for environmentally responsible practices in areas including recycling, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, transportation and sustainable landscaping.
The voluntary certification program was established in 2009 and relaunched in 2023–2024. It is operated by DEP and administered by Bethesda Green, a Montgomery County nonprofit.
