When I moved back to the D.C. area after several years in New York, I found myself rebuilding a social circle. Friends had moved away or settled into different routines, and finding a few guys to hang out with took more effort than I remembered.
That experience led me to start Choros. We first launched in DC about a year ago, bringing small groups of guys together around shared interests. The enthusiasm convinced me there were plenty of other men looking for the same thing: good company, reliable plans, and people they could keep getting to know.
Choros is built around what makes that easier for guys. You have something to do together, a small enough group to actually talk, and opportunities to see the same people again. The app helps with finding people and coordinating plans based on interests, location, and availability, so getting together takes less work.
Over the last few months, we’ve welcomed a small but enthusiastic group from Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Silver Spring. Their interests range from trivia and live music to playing music together, hiking Maryland trails, and checking out local breweries and distilleries.
We’re continuing to grow those local circles, and I’d love to welcome more Montgomery County guys who want to be part of them. You can join activities, suggest something you’d enjoy, and help shape what happens close to home.
Whether you’re new here or simply want more friends nearby, come give it a try.
