Latest Update on Lake Whetstone

The Lake Whetstone Toe Drain Repair project construction is estimated to be completed in December. The lake made headlines over the summer after the project contractor left the valve open over the Fourth of July weekend, causing excessive draining of the lake.

The Montgomery County Dept. of Environmental Protection tells us that the levels will need to remain lowered 4 ft through completion of the dam embankment work.

“We’ll be coordinating with our engineers to determine when it is safe to return the levels to normal.  We will also let Montgomery Village Foundation know once we have an estimated date for normal lake levels again.  Our teams continue to monitor the levels daily, and make any adjustments as needed.”
