Statement from Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich on the Events at the Synagogue Colleyville, Texas

For Immediate Release: Sunday 16 January

Montgomery County stands in solidarity with the Jewish community and against this horrific incident, which took place yesterday during the Sabbath: a day of prayer, rest, and peace. We are grateful to law enforcement for the safe return of those who were held hostage, and for their continued investigation of this situation.

Our hearts break for our friends in the Jewish community as they react to this tragedy. We must stand up against any acts of antisemitism or religious bigotry, and we hope others in our community will offer their support to those experiencing fear during this time.

We are stronger together, and we will continue to stand against injustice in our local community and nation. We will continue to look for ways to support the Jewish community as this situation evolves, and hope for justice for all who were impacted by these horrible events.
