Back on January 25, the Montgomery County Council voted unanimously for a new public health order, which keeps the current indoor mask mandate in place until February 21 at 11:59pm. That mandate will automatically terminate if there is no further action by the Board of Health.
During todays media briefing, council President Gabe Albornoz said, “it’s appropriate for us to be able to move forward with eliminating the mask mandate after the 21st. Especially if the numbers continue to go down.”
In a tweet on February 9th, Montgomery County Councilmember Andrew Friedson stated “Without speaking for him, Dr. Bridgers essentially confirmed that he doesn’t plan to make any recommendations to extend the indoor mask mandate beyond Feb 21.”
Earlier today DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that beginning tomorrow, February 15, 2022, indoor venues will no longer be required to verify that patrons are vaccinated in the D.C. The District will also be eliminating their indoor mask requirement on March 1.
