Governor Moore Attends 2023 Anti-Defamation League National Leadership Summit

“The recent rise in antisemitic incidents in Maryland is unacceptable,” said Gov. Moore. “We need to stand up and make it known that hate has no place in our state. My team has been working closely with ADL leadership to counter violence and prejudice with strategy and wisdom–by bolstering public safety and investing in education. I look forward to continuing this critical partnership.”

​In March, the Anti-Defamation League released a report showing hate incidents against the Jewish community have doubled in Maryland over the past year. Within the past five years, hate incidents have risen exponentially in Maryland, from 39 reported incidents in 2018 to more than 100 reported incidents in 2022. Since 1913, the Anti-Defamation League has pursued its mission to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all. The organization today combats all forms of antisemitism and bias and has become a global leader in countering extremism, battling bigotry wherever and whenever it happens, protecting democracy, and ensuring a just and inclusive society for all.

This year’s conference brought together the Anti-Defamation League’s emerging and established leaders to engage around critical anti-hate issues with top experts and leaders on a wide range of topics, with the goal of positioning attendees to effectively translate the summit’s mission and ideals into advocacy and action.  Marylanders are encouraged to report any antisemitic, bias, or discriminatory incident to the Anti-Defamation League, in addition to reporting incidents to law enforcement.​
