Per MCPD : Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Saturday, July 29, 2023. At approximately 5:49 a.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Veirs Mill Road and Twinbrook Parkway for the report of a single vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2012 Honda Civic Hatchback was traveling eastbound on Veirs Mill Road when, for reasons unknown it left the roadway and collided with a guardrail.
The adult male driver was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Two passengers were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old, Carlos Alexis Yanez Marquez of Annandale, Virginia. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at (240) 773-6620.
