J. Chow’s in Montgomery Mall Goes Dark

J. Chow’s, the “California Chicken Salad Place” located inside of the Montgomery Mall dining terrace, has closed.

The longstanding Montgomery County lunch spot was previously located at the now-demolished White Flint Mall in Rockville. Menu items included salad, soups, sandwiches, vegetarian platters, baked potatoed, BBQ chicken, and ribs.

The news of J. Chow’s closure was originally reported by Store Reporter.

In other food court news, Donutchew recently opened in kiosk that was recently occupied by Vino Rita. We’re told the donut shop will be moving soon to its permanent location in the spot recently vacated by Adonni’s Desserts, next to Macy’s and across from 7-Eleven. Donutchew offers a variety of mochi donut flavors, sweet and savory croffles (croissant and waffle mix), macarons, bubble tea, and more.

Pollo Campero is also scheduled to open soon, taking over the space most recently occupied by Greek Aroma Grill. Menu items include fried and grilled chicken, empanadas, yuca, plantains, and flan.  Pollo Campero has additional Montgomery County locations in Gaithersburg, Takoma Park, and Wheaton. The fried chicken chain, which originated in Guatemala, opened its first location in 1971 and has grown to over 400 locations worldwide, including over 70 in the United States.
