New Season of Bar Rescue Featuring MoCo Chef as Restaurant Expert to Debut Later This Month

Bar Rescue stars Jon Taffer, a long-time food and beverage industry consultant specializing in nightclubs, bars and pubs. Taffer offers his professional expertise, renovations and equipment to desperately failing bars in an effort to save them from closing.

On season 9 of the series, which debuts on Sunday, February 25th at 10pm on the Paramount Network, Taffer will be joined by a team of restaurant experts, including local chef Ashish Alfred, as well as actor Danny Trejo, Dustin Drai, and Phil Wills. .

Chef Alfred is known for combining his classical training from the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan and his Indian-American roots at his restaurants Duck Duck Goose, Anchor Bar, Good Ducking Burger and Osteria Pirata. He was born and raised in Montgomery County (Derwood), where he attended Magruder High School.

According to the Paramount Network, “Throughout the season, he will take viewers around the country to cities in Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Wisconsin and more to try and bring change but not without conflict. Episodes will feature explosive confrontations between Jon and the owners, but ultimately lead to some great resolutions.”

In 2012, bar rescue featured Piratz Tavern, a pirate-themed dive bar in Silver Spring where the staff dressed and acted like pirates. The restaurant closed in 2015 (video below).

In 2022, Taffer’s Tavern, opened at 700 6th St NW in DC, next to the Capital One Arena.
