A Silver Spring man is $57,777 richer after purchasing a winning lottery scratch-off ticket from the 7-Eleven at Piney Branch Road. Full story below courtesy MDLottery:

He likes scratch-offs because they offer “the chance of getting some money,” said a Lottery player from Silver Spring. Now, he has another reason: winning $57,777 on the game Winning 7s.
“It’s either I win big or I go home,” he said this week after claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The Montgomery County man bought the $5 instant ticket from the 7-Eleven at 8472 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring and scratched it while he was in the store. When he scanned the game’s prize check area using the Maryland Lottery app on his phone, the scratch-off fan realized just how much he had won.

“I went running to my car and called my mom,” he said. Mainly, though, he’s staying low key about the prize. While most of it will end up in his savings account, he is pondering a trip to Atlantic City, N.J. and will probably buy something nice for his mom. After that, he plans to keep on playing scratch-offs because, well, you never know!

The store that sold the top-prize winning instant ticket receives a bonus of $577.77, equal to 1% of the prize total, from the Lottery. Winning 7s went on sale in November 2023 with eight prizes at the top-tier $57,777 level and two remain. It is ranked No. 17 on the Lottery’s chart of Top 40 Scratch-Offs.
