Sandy Spring Museum to Host Groundbreaking Event for Cultural Heritage Hub

Sandy Spring Museum (17901 Bentley Rd) will hold a groundbreaking event for its Cultural Heritage Hub, a 1,700-square-foot expansion “dedicated to serving folk artists who represent Montgomery County’s rich cultural heritage,” on Sunday, June 9. The event will feature Polynesian music and dance and foods/alcohol from local vendors.

Per Sandy Spring Museum: “You are invited to celebrate the first capital expansion of Sandy Spring Museum since 2007. With much fanfare and excitement, help us break ground for the new Cultural Heritage Hub that will serve regional traditional artists and organizations that do not have their own space in which to rehearse, create, meet, or perform. This indoor space with an outdoor pavilion will serve the entire community by bringing creative energy and excitement, along with more opportunities to build community and meet new people.

Enjoy a live performance of traditional Polynesian music and dance from Meki’s Tamure Polynesian Arts Group. There will be delicious foods and drinks from local vendors: Elder Pine Brewery, Puerto Rico Distillery, Amano Real Fruit, Kuks Tribute Cuisine, and Cocina El Jefe.

Your donation goes directly towards making the Cultural Heritage Hub the community’s new favorite place to gather.

What the Cultural Heritage Hub Offers:
Creative and Rehearsal Spaces: Tailored to meet the needs of folk artists, the space is ideal for rehearsals, performances, and artistic gatherings, available at no cost.

Accessibility Around the Clock: Recognizing the diverse schedules and needs of artists, the Cultural Heritage Hub will be accessible 24-hours a day via a secure key-code system, ensuring that creative space is always available.

Outdoor Amphitheater: Complementing the indoor facilities, a new 75-seat amphitheater adjacent to the Cultural Heritage Hub will host a range of performances and events, adding an outdoor dimension to the Museum’s cultural offerings.

We eagerly anticipate the completion of this project and the opening of the Cultural Heritage Hub in early 2025. Stay connected for updates.  We look forward to welcoming you to a space where culture, community, and creativity come together.”
