According to Montgomery County Police, southbound I-270 is currently closed at Montrose Road due to fire rescue activity.
Per Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, the collision and vehicle fire occurred at approximately 4am. It involved two vehicles with one vehicle burning and “fully-involved.” One driver fled the scene and three patients were evaluated with non-life threatening injuries.
MCPD tweeted the following at 4:49am on Thursday, July 4: “TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Fire rescue activity has southbound I-270 closed at Montrose Road. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route. Expect delays.”
