Thanksgiving has arrived at Butchers Alley, the neighborhood butcher serving Montgomery County and NW DC from it’s location in Bethesda. This year the shop has fresh, locally sourced heritage-breed White Holland turkeys ready for you to roast at home, along with house made sides like velvety caramelized garlic mashed potatoes and turkey stuffing like Grandma used to make.
“We’re really proud to carry these White Holland heritage-breed turkeys,” says Chef Fernando Giacomini. “Our relationship with our producer runs deep, and these turkeys are some of the best out there. They’re pasture-raised without antibiotics, and you can really taste the difference.”
White Hollands were once a common commercial turkey in America. They grow slowly, as a result many farms dropped them for faster-growing hybrids, and today they’re rare. “The flavor of these turkeys is so delicate, and the texture is so tender when cooked,” Giacomini says.
The turkeys are deep-chilled instead of frozen, so they’re about as fresh as you can get. Browse house made sides, seafood specialties or pick up cheese and charcuterie, wine to pour with it, and whatever else you need online or in store.
Preorders are open through Saturday, November 21st. You can order online, call 240-855-0121, or stop by the shop at 4961 Bethesda Ave in Bethesda. Their friendly staff is on hand to guide you towards the bird size you need based on your number of guests – and if you’re lucky you may get to taste a sample of their signature Jamón Serrano.
