Lafayette Federal Hosts Free Community Shred Day in Kensington

Lafayette Federal Credit Union is inviting local residents to safely dispose of personal documents at its upcoming Community Shred Day, held at the Kensington Financial Service Center on Saturday, June 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (or until the shred truck reaches capacity).

Community Shred Day is free and open to the public, offering a secure, convenient way to shred sensitive documents such as old bills, tax forms, and other paperwork that could put individuals at risk of identity theft if improperly discarded.

The event is part of Lafayette Federal’s ongoing efforts to support financial wellness and community engagement. Security has always been a focus for the credit union, and Community Shred Day offers a simple, accessible way for individuals to protect their personal information while connecting with their neighbors.

Volunteers will be on-site to assist with unloading documents from vehicles and ensure materials are shredded via a professional mobile shredding service. (Note: Only personal documents will be accepted — no commercial or bulk business shredding, please.)

In addition to shredding services, guests can enjoy:

• Complimentary coffee and donuts

• Fun giveaways

• Financial education from Lafayette Federal representatives

• A chance to win one of four drawings

Lafayette Federal has long maintained a strong presence in the Kensington area and provides trusted financial solutions while giving back to the communities it serves.
