Lala Tamar is what happens when Moroccan soul and Brazilian beats meet on the dance floor. A singer, dancer, and gimbri player, LALA (“lady” in darija) brings North African music a fresh, feminine alchemy—ancient songs infused with the spell of gnawa trance, her grandmother’s music resurrected from the Atlas Mountains. Internationally acclaimed, she is known on the streets of Marrakech, her videos have millions of views, and her jubilant sound has carried her to festivals and stages on six continents. Wherever she goes, hearts and feet leave happy.

Master kora player Yacouba Sissoko devotes his gift to spreading the word of peace and expanding awareness of West African history and culture. His performances transform traditional songs and stories inherited from his forefathers into messages of love, harmony, and empowerment. The kora itself—an enchanting 21-stringed instrument central to West African culture—has long been played by djelys, or storytellers, who performed for kings, nobility, and village chiefs. Through song, they preserved the oral histories of their people, recording the rhythms of social life, cultural identity, and family lineage. In Yacouba’s hands, the kora continues this lineage, transporting audiences with its resonant sound.

Step into a night that breaks the routine: an evening where wine becomes celebration and the moment becomes memory. Discover the story of Beaujolais Nouveau, the young, fresh, fruit-forward wine released each year to honor the harvest, transformed into a global sensation thanks to Georges Duboeuf. It may not be the most complex wine, but it is the most anticipated: the wine of celebration, joy, and tradition.

On November 22 at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., we’ll uncork bottles, toast together, and connect with great company. This is the official Beaujolais release date for D.C., and you’re invited to be part of it.

Children’s Specialized ABA is proud to host our annual Community Food Drive, dedicated to supporting families in need—especially those raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We understand that for many families, the cost of specialized care, therapy, and daily living needs can create added challenges during the holiday season. That’s why our goal is to help make sure no table goes empty and every family feels the warmth of community care.

We are providing free prepackaged bags of food for families in need, filled with essential pantry items and nutritious options that are easy to prepare. These bags are available to all local families, with special consideration for those in our ASD community who may benefit from this extra support.

Fellowships enabling high school students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are now open to current sophomores in Montgomery County, MD.

Applications are due by Dec. 3rd. Fellows become part of the program’s seventh class. More than 170 high school students have participated since the program launched in 2020.
