Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 13-year-old from Gaithersburg. Laron Scarlett was last seen on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at approximately 4 p.m., in the 19500 block of Frederick Rd. in Germantown.

Scarlett is approximately 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what he was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for his welfare.


Potomac

Hwa Hyun Woo was last seen on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at approximately 7:38 p.m., in the 15500 block of Frederick Rd. in Rockville.   Woo is approximately 5-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. He has black and white hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing dark clothing. He sometimes wears glasses. Woo is driving a silver 2001 Honda Accord with Maryland tags JBP398.


Silver Spring

Osorio is approximately 5-feet and weighs 110 pounds. He has short brown hair and green eyes and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, grey sweatpants and black Crocs. Police and family are concerned for his welfare.

Zambrano is approximately 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and shoulder length black hair. She was last seen wearing black and red plaid pajamas, a grey sweater and white Nike shoes. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

MoCo Police

Montgomery County Police have announced that the Alcohol Holiday Task Force arrested 37 people for DUI during the week of December 14-18 and 24 people for DUI during the week of December 21-25. Per MCPD: Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Holiday Alcohol Task Force have been devoting their full time and attention to detecting alcohol-related offenses this holiday season to save lives and reduce impaired driving violations in our roadways.

This task force typically starts the week before thanksgiving and ends the first week of January. Montgomery County Police officers and officers from allied agencies (Maryland Transportation Authority Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Rockville City Police, Takoma Park Police, Gaithersburg Police, Maryland State Police and Maryland National Capital Park Police) volunteer to work the task force.


Ashton

Around 65 Montgomery County firefighters responded to a 1-story single family house fire Tuesday morning on Haw Lane (between Ashton, Spencerville, and Burtonsville).  According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, an occupant of the home witnessed a tree coming down on power lines, which caused a transformer to blow. They then notified the power company and minutes later saw smoke coming from the basement. The fire then vented out of a basement window of the home which ignited a propane/oil tank.

All occupants were able to make it out of the home and there were no injuries reported.  One family (3 adults) has been displaced.  Howard Co Fire & EMS assisted. Per @mfrsPIO on Twitter, “Origin/Cause, electrical in nature, tree pulled wires down (outside), combustibles in basement ignited (likely power surge) Damage ~$260K.”


Silver Spring

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, at approximately 3 a.m., an adult male victim was robbed at gunpoint by four suspects, in a parking garage located at 8100 Fenton St. The suspects obtained the victim’s personal property and fled the area.

Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at the Dollar Century Plus in the 8700 block of Flower Ave. in Silver Spring. Detectives have released a video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.  At approximately 4:36 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of a burglary that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspect forced entry into the store, smashed two glass display cases, stole an undisclosed amount of merchandise and left the scene.  Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras of the store and obtained video of the suspect.
