17-Year-Old Arrested in Connection to Murder of Jai’Lyn Jones in Germantown

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Jai’lyn Jones, according to Montgomery County Police. MCPD Chief Marcus Jones and Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy will hold a press conference today at 4pm where they will share information regarding the investigation and arrest.

Jai’lyn Jones body was found stabbed and mutilated on January 24 in the 18900 block of Grotto Lane in Germantown. Jai’lyn was a Germantown resident and a senior at Northwest High School. Alexis Marie Jones, Jai’lyn’s mother, had spent the past several month using social media to spread awareness about her son’s murder. On April 30, a “Rally to Protect our Neighborhoods” was held at the BlackRock center in Germantown to raise awareness about the case. Councilmembers Craig Rice (District 2) and Sidney Katz (District 3) spoke at the event.
