$50,000 Winning Scratch-Off Sold at 99 Ranch Market in Gaithersburg

A Gaithersburg resident is $50,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery scratch-off ticket at the 99 Ranch Market at 110 Odendhal Avenue in Gaithersburg. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:
“A 60-year-old Gaithersburg woman was back on her feet to claim a big $50,000 Lottery prize she won playing the Gold X20 scratch-off. She said that the initial revelation of her good fortune shocked her so much that she passed out. Luckily two best friends helped her wake up.

About two weeks ago, the Montgomery County resident had just finished work and was looking forward to indulging in a latte at her favorite coffee shop. But when she arrived, she discovered the machine that makes her drink wasn’t working. So she was a little disappointed after a long day at work, but before heading home, she stopped at 99 Ranch Market located at 110 Odendhal Avenue in Gaithersburg. After purchasing a few items, she noticed the store’s Lottery vending machine and headed over to try her luck.
“I had $9 left over, so I purchased four $1 tickets and one $5 ticket,” she recalled.

The $5 ticket she chose was the lucky Gold X20 game, which she took home to scratch. As she began playing the game, she immediately noticed that her numbers were matching the winning numbers with $5,000 prizes.
“I couldn’t believe it,” she smiled. “I just kept scratching and matching.”

But, what really knocked the wind out of her was revealing the “20X” symbol with a $1,000 prize under it. That meant the prize was to be multiplied by 20. And when she scanned the scratch-off with the Maryland Lottery app on her phone, it showed she was a $50,000 winner!
“I was just jumping, screaming and clapping,” said the big winner. “And, then all of a sudden I was on the kitchen floor.”

In all the excitement, the lucky lady fainted, but she said she was quickly awakened by her two dogs licking her face. After she calmed down a bit, she called her husband, who was out of town at the time, to share the good news.
“When I got home, I just stared at the ticket,” said her husband, who accompanied her to Lottery Headquarters to claim the prize. “It really took a second for it to sink in.”

The Gaithersburg resident contacted a friend, who works at a Lottery retailer to help confirm the win and claimed the prize this week. She and her husband plan to take a trip to Dubai and pay bills with their winnings. The Montgomery County retailer, 99 Ranch Market, is also celebrating this win. For selling a $50,000 top-prize-winning scratch-off, the store will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. The Gold X20 game launched in January 2023, and three of its $50,000 top prizes remain unclaimed along with five $5,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
