Addition Information Released on Monday’s Report of Two Found Dead in Germantown, Believed to be a Murder-Suicide

Montgomery County Police have released additional information after two people were found dead on Monday morning in Manchester Farm neighborhood of Germantown.

Per MCPD: 
For Immediate Release: Tuesday, March 1, 2022

Gaithersburg, MD – A Germantown woman was killed, in what Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division is investigating as a murder-suicide.

On Monday, February 28, at approximately 9:05 a.m., 5th District officers responded to the of 18900 block of Highstream Drive in Germantown, for a report of a shooting that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 50-year-old Michelle Carter and the suspect, 51-year-old Richard Maurice Harris, lying in the parking lot of the townhome community. Both suffered gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead on scene. A handgun was located in close proximity.

The Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section was notified and during the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Carter and Harris had previously been in a relationship.

Both have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy to determine specific cause of death.
