Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services announced an arson arrest hours after responding to a call for a fire on the 11400 block of Monterrey Dr. Off of Veirs Mill Rd in Wheaton.
At approximately 2pm on Tuesday, March 15th, MCFRS units responded to a call for a fire in a basement bedroom of a single family home. The fire was quickly put out and there were no injuries, according to MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer.
Firefighters found suspicious circumstances that led to fire/explosives investigators arresting 34 year old Meriam Bahta of Wheaton.
Bahta is being charged with two counts of first degree arson, reckless endangerment, and attempted first degree assault.
