Beyond MoCo: The Great Frederick County Fair Begins September 16; Coolio, Vanilla Ice, and Joan Jett to Perform Concerts

The Great Frederick Fair begins today at 4pm at the Frederick Fairgrounds (797 E Patrick St) and will run through September 24.  Entry to the fair is $10 and children 10 and under get in free. Special events include tractor pulls, a demolition derby, and concerts by Chris Tomlin (Sept. 16), Clay Walker (Sept. 17), and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts (Sept. 18). Fun Fact: Did you know that Joan Jett, the woman many refer to as the Queen of Rock & Roll, spent almost a decade of her life growing up in Randolph Hills and attended Wheaton High School? There will also be an I Love the 90’s concert on September 22 with performances by Vanilla Ice, Coolio, Tone Loc, Rob Base, Montell Jordan, and Young MC. SENIOR CITIZENS age 65 and over are admitted free on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday until 3 pm, but MUST PAY for parking at all fair operated parking lots.
MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY is Wednesday – Active duty military in uniform or with valid military ID are admitted free until 6 pm
FAIR FRIDAY (KID’S DAY) is the 2nd Friday of the Fair, All youth 18 and under are admitted free until 5 pm, but MUST PAY for parking at all fair operated parking lots.
THE LUNCH BUNCH is Monday – Thursday, 11 am – 2 pm. Come enjoy lunch without paying admission. If driving, enter Gate 3 to pay reduced parking fee of $5 – You will be directed to the lunch bunch parking lot.
