6:18pm Update: At 4:05 p.m., officers responded to the 5200 block of River Road for a cyclist struck. Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded and the adult female was pronounced dead on scene.

The female cyclist was hit by a flatbed truck.

The name of the victim will be released when next of kin has been properly notified.

Original Report: A bicyclist was struck on eastbound River Road between the Kenwood Station shopping center and Landry Lane in Bethesda at approximately 4pm on Thursday afternoon.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) PIO Pete Piringer reports that one patient was evaluated for a traumatic injury and was not transported to a hospital, which means the collision was fatal.
