Updated with a link to a different fundraiser that has been started by the family.

The body of 21-year-old Yannick Dbumeni-Ndaleu was recovered at approximately 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, the morning after he disappeared under the water while helping another man pull his son from a rip current, according to Myrtle Beach Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Dbumeni-Ndaleu is a Silver Spring resident who graduated from Springbrook High School.

Yannick’s brother, Thierry Pouassi Ngaleu, started the fundraiser to ship Yannick’s body to his birthplace in Cameroon. According to the fundraiser, his “family wanted him to set up this GoFundMe because Yannick was a well loved person and people were asking how they can help and contribute. We will be using the funds to assist with the cost of the funeral arrangements as well as the cost to help ship his body back to his birth place (Cameroon).”

The fundraiser can be found here.
