UPDATE: MCPD found no active threats at Wheaton and Edison High schools. Lockdowns have been lifted at both schools.
Wheaton High School and Thomas Edison High School are both on lockdown Friday morning due to the report of an individual outside of the school campuses with a handgun.
Montgomery County Police issued the following at 8:58am: “Wheaton & Edison high schools are currently in a shelter in place following a report of an individual outside of the school campuses with a handgun. MCPD is on scene and working to confirm the validity of the report.”
UPDATE: Both Wheaton and Edison high schools are on lockdown as officers continue to investigate.
