City of Gaithersburg Celebrates Financial Wellness Month

Per the City of Gaithersburg: The City celebrates Financial Wellness Month in January with educational programs that help increase the financial stability & well-being of City residents. In recognition of this month, the Financial Empowerment Center presents a virtual Financial Education Workshop series featuring experts from leading financial institutions & members of the Gaithersburg Financial Wellness Coalition. Workshops are available in both English & Spanish. All sessions will take place from 7 to 8 p.m. To register, e-mail [email protected] with your name, e-mail address & what session(s) you would like to sign up for. With a proclamation at their meeting on January 3, the Mayor & City Council officially proclaimed January as Financial Wellness Month in the City. View the meeting presentation here.

Financial Wellness Month is a time to assess finances, income, and debt & make plans to achieve financial goals. The City provides tools, education, and resources to support financial health for all Gaithersburg families. The Financial Wellness Coalition provides financial education & helps people access low-cost banking products. The City works with the Montgomery County Community Action Agency to provide free tax preparation at Casey Community Center, and the Financial Empowerment Center provides free financial counseling that is helping residents pay down debt, improve credit scores, and use budgeting tools to save for the future.

Bethesda Film Fest

The 2024 Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentary films made by filmmakers from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Screenings will be held Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema.
