City of Rockville asks Residents to Weigh-In on Future of RedGate Park

City of Rockville asks Residents to Weigh-In on Future of RedGate Park

Three years ago, the golf course at RedGate closed and since has taken on a new life as RedGate Park. Rockville’s Mayor and Council unanimously decided that the site will remain parkland, with both active and passive uses. Now it’s time to decide what kind of park.

The City of Rockville is asking residents to fill out a survey that would help them understand how RedGate Park is being used by residents and to help start to plan for its future.

Rockville asks, “What should RedGate Park look like in 10 years? Twenty years?”

“When the 131-acre RedGate golf course closed, the City of Rockville Mayor and Council voted unanimously to keep the land — one of the city’s largest remaining areas of open space — as a park.

But the question is, what kind of park? What amenities should RedGate Park have?

Now it’s time to decide the details: trails for walking, biking and hiking? A dog park? Picnic areas? Natural areas for birdwatching and habitat preservation? An amphitheater for events? New sports fields with lights?

Over the next year, we invite to join your city to envision — and design — the future for RedGate Park.”

You can find the survey here.
