Montgomery County Police 5th District units and Auto Theft Detectives are investigating two “Jump-In” Auto Thefts where the first stolen vehicle was found across the street from where the second vehicle was stolen just 50 minutes later.
Shortly before 8PM Wednesday, Montgomery County Police 5th District Officers responded to the 7-Eleven store at in Germantown for a vehicle that had just been stolen.
The driver of a Dark Gray 2017 Volkswagen Jetta went into the 7-Eleven and came back outside to find their car gone. The driver told Police the vehicle’s keys were left inside while the driver was inside the store.
Around 8:40PM, less than an hour later, Montgomery County Police 5th District Officers responded to the Giant grocery store on Leaman Farm Road, just off Clopper Road, for the report of another “Jump-In” Auto Theft.
Officers at the Giant learned that the victim driver went into the Giant but his wife stayed outside in their blue BMW 535i. While officers were gathering details on the BMW theft, another Officer found the stolen VW parked and unoccupied right near where the BMW was then stolen. The BMW seems to have left the area though…
