Community Rallies Around Family Who Owns Body Shop Destroyed By Fire Last Week

Last Wednesday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a fire at the Wheaton Body Shop that caused approximately $1 million in damage. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, but the family who owns the body shop has to rebuild the business from the ground up. A GoFundMe started late last week has already raised over $35,000. More information from the fundraiser can be seen below:

“We are reaching out to you today on behalf of Petr and Zuzana Kelyman, owners of the Wheaton Body Shop. Sadly, their business was completely destroyed in a devastating fire that occurred on Wednesday evening, April 26th, leaving them with nothing but ashes. As immigrants from the Czech and Slovak Republics, Petr and Zuzana came to this country with the hopes of living the American dream. With hard work and dedication, they built up their business, providing honest and reliable service to their customers.

Now, with everything gone, they will have to start from the ground up. This means investing in new equipment, rebuilding the premises, and also recovering their precious business records and computers. This will prove to be a huge financial burden for the Kelyman family, taking care of their employees and supporting their children through school.

Petr and Zuzana, along with their children have always been first in line to sign up to volunteer in the community, donating their time and resources to so many. They have opened their hearts and home, quickly turning friends into family. They are in desperate need of support from their extended family today.

Therefore, we are kindly asking for your support. Any donation, no matter how small or large, will help the Kelyman family get back on their feet and start rebuilding their business. We know that our community is filled with kind and compassionate people who are always willing to help those in need, and we hope that you will join us in supporting this family during such a difficult time.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please consider making a donation or sharing this appeal with your friends and family.”

With gratitude,
Debbie & Louis Kovalsky”
