Creative Social Distancing at Rio

by MCS Staff

Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg has found creative ways to make social distancing a little more fun.

In order to promote carryout from local restaurants, they have drawn ‘picnic circles’ on the open grass areas, providing expansive seating 6 feet apart with a view of the water.

In addition, they have added in ‘mini obstacle courses’ to their sidewalks. The courses offer hopscotch, directions to jump, spin, or dance, and even though they were created for kids they are open to be used by people of any ages.

They also have invested in 3-d chalk art, along with more street art and murals to make the outdoor experience more exciting and aesthetically pleasing.
