D.C. Ranks 15th in a 2022 List of ‘Best Cities for Hockey Fans’

With the 2022 Stanley Cup semifinals in full gear and the NHL projected to have a record over $5 billion in revenue this season, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2022’s Best Cities for Hockey Fans. Washington D.C. came in at #15 out of 72 cities included on the list.

The Washington Capitals have made the Capitals for 8 years straight and 14 of the last 15 years, winning the Stanley Cup in 2018. Their consistently strong teams have helped D.C. reach 15th on the NHL side, while the city is ranked 55th on the NCAA side.

To determine the best places for hockey spectators, WalletHub compared 72 U.S. cities based on two divisional categories, professional and college hockey, across 21 key metrics. The data set ranges from the performance level of the city’s teams to minimum season ticket prices to stadium capacity.
