Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating the fatal collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle that occurred on Tuesday, November 16 in Silver Spring.
At approximately 5:25 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Columbia Pike and Stewart Lane for the report of a traffic collision that just occurred.
The investigation has revealed that the operator of a black Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R was traveling southbound on Columbia Pike when he collided with the rear of a blue 2021 Volkswagen Jetta, which was stopping for a traffic signal at Stewart Lane. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The operator of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet.
The decedent was identified as a 28-year-old male from Rockville. The name of the deceased will be released following proper notification of family. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continues to investigate this collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
