Fill Up on These Five MoCo Gas Station Eats

For some reason when I think of gas station food, Combos come to mind (the baked cylindrical cubes that are cracker or pretzel flavored and filled with some sort of processed cheese). These five spots change the game and provide a lot more flavor than pepperoni pizza combos ever have. They’re a must-try for anyone living in or around Montgomery County.
Mangino’s Pizza (Germantown)

Located in Germantown, Mangino’s prides itself on its flavorful New York style pizza. I’m not a big toppings guy, so I’ve only ventured as far as cheese and pepperoni. If you like your pizza oozing with cheese, then you have to check it out. They deliver within a 5 mile radius too. It may sound a little odd, but this is the kind of pizza I imagine the Ninja Turtles eating and if you’ve ever seen anything related to the Ninja Turtles, you know they love pizza!

Seoul Food (Wheaton)
UPDATE: Seoul Food is in the process of moving from their gas station spot in Wheaton, to a bigger location in Takoma Park. It will no longer be connected to a gas station.

Seoul Food has quickly become one of Wheaton’s best restaurants, and that’s saying a lot because Wheaton has a tons of great places to eat. Many say that everything is good at Seoul Food and I can’t disagree. Even they’re cookies are some of the best I’ve ever had!
FYI: They’re closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Corned Beef King (Olney)

Don’t let the name fool you, they have much more than just corned beef. This New York style sandwich shop may be in a gas station convenience store in Olney, but they make you feel right at home. You HAVE to try the corned beef sandwich at some point, but their ribeye steak sandwiches, onion rings, and five-cheese mac are amazing too!
During my last visit I was told they’re likely opening a new location at the gas station in Rockville Pike and Twinbrook Parkway. The more the merrier.

Taco Bar (Gaithersburg)

The biggest problem I encounter when I go to Taco Bar is deciding between the different types of tacos, the amazing tortas (Mexican sandwiches), and the nachos. That’s not even a quarter of what they have to offer either. It’s the type of place that has something for everyone, you just have to find what’s right for you. Very affordable and very tasty! It’s located at the outskirts of the Rio Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, next to Ziki Japanese Steakhouse.

Sunshine General Store (Brookeville)

The Sunshine General Store is located on Georgia Avenue in Brookeville, MD between Olney and Damascus. I have made the drive out a few times for one reason…the Sunshine Burger. Many feel it’s the best burger they’ve ever had. Though the General Store no longer sells gas (the pumps are there), The Sunshine Burger remains legendary in Montgomery County.

Clarksburg Grille in Clarksburg Market has the best cheesesteak I have ever eaten. This includes the dozen or so cheesecakes I’ve tried in various locations in Philly. Though they no longer sell gas, then vintage pumps can still be found outside of the market (which is more of a gas station convenience store with a grille and deli in the back!).
