The founders of Honest Tea, which was founded in Bethesda, have launched their latest venture– Just Ice Tea. “We are excited to bring you our new line of delicious, organic and fair trade certified bottled teas with unsweetened and just sweet enough options.”
Coca-Cola announced in May that it would be phasing out the Honest Tea line from its portfolio. Bethesda resident Seth Goldman cofounded the drink company in 1998 and was its CEO until 2015– when he stepped back and became executive chairman of Beyond Meat. In June Goldman stated that he would be re-entering the bottled tea business with the announcement of his new line, Just Ice Tea.
Message from the founders of Just Ice Tea: Honestly…we were heartbroken when our beloved tea brand was discontinued. After growing with us for 23 years, our organic farmers were left stranded. We couldn’t let that happen. Besides, our fans were thirsty. So we got brewing. Our farmers do more than grow the tea leaves and spices for our bottled teas. Through fair trade and organic farming, they provide a more just, healthier way of life for their communities and our planet – and healthier options for you. This is just ice tea, but it’s also so much more.
Biz Journals reports that “in late September or early October, the bottles will also start selling in Greater Washington and across the country at retailers including Whole Foods Market, Giant Food, MOM’s Organic Market, Roots Market, Yes! Organic Market, Dawson’s Market and others.”
