Four vehicles were involved in a collision that led to two of them catching fire on southbound I-270 on Thursday evening causing some lanes to be blocked, but no injuries.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue units quickly arrived on the scene to extinguish the fires that occurred in the area of the weigh station between Route 109 and Route 121.
Per MCFRS PIO Pete Piringer, the vehicles that caught fire were collided with a post on the side of the highway. None of the occupants were injured or required transport, but at least one of the vehicles has been damaged beyond repair.
