Freddy Adu Has Signed With Osterlen FF (Sweden)
Freddy Adu has signed with Osterlen FF, a team recently promoted to Sweden’s Division 1 (the third tier in Sweden), per Ives Galarcep.
Adu has been dealing with lower back issues in recent years and spent the last two years coaching youth soccer in the area. He now has a clean bill of health and will attempt to revive his career at the age of 31.
Freddy Adu moved from Ghana to Rockville at the age of 8. He attended Sequoyah Elementary School in Derwood and later The Heights School in Potomac before becoming the youngest athlete to ever sign a professional contract in the United States.
In 2004, at age 14, he was selected by DC United in the MLS draft. A few months later he scored his first MLS goal (also at age 14). At the time he was considered the future of U.S. Soccer.
Unfortunately, Adu never lived up to those expectations. Following his time at DC United, he has played for over a dozen teams in 9 different countries.
We wish Freddy the best of luck with his new club!
