Gaithersburg Oktoberfest Returns Sunday, October 9

The City of Gaithersburg’s Oktoberfest celebration returns after a two-year hiatus on Sunday, October 9. The event will take place from 12-5pm in the Kentlands. Full details below from the City of Gaithersburg:

“Dust off your dirndl, grab your lederhosen and get ready to Prost! The 29th annual celebration of Oktoberfest is on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from noon to 5 p.m. The festival takes place in and around the Arts Barn, Kentlands Mansion and Kentlands Village Green and along Main Street & Market Square.”

Admission & parking are free. Free wheelchair accessible shuttle service will run regularly during festival hours to and from satellite parking at 101 Orchard Ridge Drive, just off of Quince Orchard Road.

Experience a taste of Germany right in your own backyard with performances by the ever-popular Alte Kameraden German Band & Alt-Washingtonia Bavarian Dancers. Savor traditional festival food while enjoying selections from local microbreweries.

Fall festivities include professional pumpkin carving & apple cider pressing demonstrations, fun inflatables, hands-on crafts, pumpkin & face painting, balloon twisting, bubbles, artists & crafters, family activities, and strolling entertainers. Enjoy three stages of live entertainment featuring a variety of bands, stroll through the business expo, and explore restaurants and retail establishments within the Kentlands. Please note some activities have a nominal fee.

Note that no unauthorized alcoholic beverages, scooters, skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, or weapons, real or facsimile, are permitted at the Festival. Licensed & leashed pets are permitted in the Festival but not encouraged due to large crowds & noisy environments.

Street Closures
Please note that starting at 6 a.m., City streets will be closed & will reopen at approximately 9 p.m. The following streets will be affected:

  • Main Street from Midtown to Market Street West
  • Inspiration Lane from Main Street to Golden Ash; between Briscoe & Selby – Closed
  • Inspiration Lane from Firehouse to Briscoe & Golden Ash to Selby Street – Limited access passes only access
  • Firehouse Lane from Leeks lot to Inspiration Lane – Closed
  • Kent Square: All
  • Selby Street: All
  • Kentlands Boulevard (both circles): No 360 traffic between 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Kentlands Boulevard (cross overs): At 7-11 & Whole Foods parking lots entrances – Closed all day
  • Hart Road between Golden Ash & Firehouse Lane – Limited access (pass only)

Bethesda Film Fest

The 2024 Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentary films made by filmmakers from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Screenings will be held Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema.
