Gaithersburg Shooting Still Under Investigation

The Gaithersburg Police Department has not released any new information regarding the incident that occurred yesterday at the 300 block of North Summit Avenue.

Gaithersburg police spokesman Officer Dan Lane told Bethesda Beat this morning that there was “no new information” available about the incident but there is no “ongoing threat to the community.”

On April 14th around 3PM, officers responded to a call regarding a parking hazard at the Spring Ridge Apartments in Gaithersburg. While at the scene, the officers heard gunshots coming from a “higher elevation” in the vicinity.

Montgomery County Department of Police then sent out the following tweet:

The Gaithersburg Police Department also briefly asked residents to shelter in place.

During a press conference Wednesday evening, Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka said based on the body cam footage he could not conclusively say whether or not the officers were fired upon.

We will update this post when new information becomes available.
