Guavaberry Dominican Restaurant and Valenciana Wine Garden Coming to Silver Spring

by Patrick Herron

Source of the Spring reports that two new restaurants, Guavaberry Dominican Restaurant and Valenciana Wine Garden, will be coming to recently vacated restaurant locations in Silver Spring.

Guavaberry Dominican Restaurant will be coming to 8417 Georgia Ave, the former site of The Greek Place. The Greek Place closed this past December.  Dominican restaurants are known for featuring a variety of stews and mofongo, a dish made with mashed fried green plantains.

Valenciana Wine Garden will be coming to 930 Bonifant Street, the former site of Mandalay Restaurant and Café.  Mandalay closed back on October 31 of last year. The closing of Mandalay had been expected for several years as Mandalay first announced in 2019 that they were moving to a new location in Washington, DC.

Source of the Spring reports that according to signage posted at the location, Valenciana Wine Garden’s alcoholic beverage license hearing will be held on March 3.

We will post more information on these two restaurants when it becomes available.
