Islands Tropical Café located at 9324 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring, is now Tropics Ice Cream & Jerk.
From the restaurant’s Facebook page: “Islands Tropical Café is now Tropics Ice Cream & Jerk. We still serve the renown York Castle Caribbean Ice cream but we’ve expanded our popular Jamaican patty line up, and upgraded our smoothie, and jerk chicken menus.”

We are a family owned and operated minority business with deep Jamaican roots. Our location at the corner of Georgia Ave & 16th street is a charming niche Caribbean ice cream spot serving the DMV area with delightful and tantalizing tropical flavors. We are purveyors of the very popular York Castle brand of of ice cream. This location is the first York Castle ice cream shop which opened back in 1985. Our customers have to come enjoy the awesome flavors and great customer service. Many of our adult customers remind us that they have been coming to this location since they were kids. We appreciate the support over the years of our Silver Spring, MD community and the wider DMV area
