Jingle Jubilee & Tree Lighting on December 3 in Gaithersburg

City of Gaithersburg: Celebrate diverse & vibrant holiday traditions at Gaithersburg’s Jingle Jubilee. Enjoy an evening of music, dance & song. Enjoy an evening of music, dance, and song. This year marks the 96th anniversary of the tree lighting ceremony. The festivities take place at the Concert Pavilion in Olde Towne. Admission is free. The outdoor venue features lawn seating with limited chairs. Please feel free to bring your own chair to enjoy the entertainment. Masks are encouraged for this outdoor event.

Children & adults alike will delight in meeting Santa, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Paw Patrol, and other characters. Be sure to bring your camera to capture memorable holiday photos. Meet animal characters who benefit from clean streams, pose for pictures with the City’s newly painted snowplows and a beautifully decorated police car, write a letter to Santa, sing along to holiday songs with the Gaithersburg High School Band, and enjoy exhibits of diverse decorations & traditions.

To keep things toasty at Jingle Jubilee, enjoy free hot chocolate from the Gaithersburg Student Union. You can also purchase savory snacks & treats. The evening will conclude with holiday wishes from the Mayor and City Council & the magnificent tree lighting ceremony. The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless (MCCH) will be on hand with holiday cards for families to sign that will be sent to those on active military duty. To support homeless veterans in Montgomery County, MCCH provides safe, stable & affordable housing to an average of 75 homeless veterans each year. Cash donations will also be accepted during Jingle Jubilee to purchase furniture, small kitchen appliances, linens, and household items for our returning soldiers. Learn more here.

On December 28, 2020, White’s Ferry ceased operations due to a dispute with Rockland Farm in Loudon County, VA over the ferry’s landing site.

17th Annual Kensington Day of the Book Festival

Now in its 17th year, the Kensington Day of the Book Festival is a family-friendly street festival featuring 150+ renowned authors, poets, and literary organizations.
