The Kensington Volunteer Fire Department’s Fourth Annual Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser is happening this month. This year, the Chili Pickup will take place in a Drive-Thru format on Saturday March 20, 2021, from 11AM through 2PM. Online preordering is available now, but same day purchasing is also available.

This years’ chili will be cooked by past years’ Chili Cook-Off contest champions, who are all Kensington Volunteer Fire Department members. The Drive-Thru Chili Pickup and any same day purchases can be made during the above times at KVFD Station 705, located at 10620 Connecticut Avenue in Old Town Kensington.

The Kensington VFD thanks the community for their support, and says that this year’s Chili Cook-Off funds will go toward their new ambulance, which they expect to receive later this spring. The Ambulance housed at KVFD’s Station 705 on Connecticut Avenue runs around 3,000 calls every year. Montgomery County Career Firefighters staff the station weekdays, but volunteers fully staff the station nights and weekends––70% of total shifts are fully staffed by KVFD volunteers.
