King Buick GMC, located at 16200 Frederick Rd, And has announced via e-mail that it has sold the business to the Criswell group. Below is the full email sent out to customers by King Buick GMC:
“I never thought I would be writing this letter to announce that King Buick GMC will be closing. Saturday, November 19th, was the last day to purchase a new or used vehicle from King Buick GMC.
King Motor Company was started by my grandfather W. Lawson King in 1928. My father, Conrad V. Aschenbach, started with the dealership in old town Gaithersburg after marrying my mother, Lois King, in 1952. He grew the business to include six dealerships. Our family has decided to sell King Buick GMC property for developments of apartments, condos, and townhouses.
With nowhere to move the dealership, we had no option but to sell the business. Thankfully, we were able to reach a deal with a longtime family friend and competitor, Harry Criswell. The Buick GMC franchise/business moved today, November 21st. The Criswell group has had a long history in the Gaithersburg area and is more than capable of taking care of your Buick GMC needs.
I will be moving on to work with my son, Conrad R. Aschenbach. Conrad started building his own dealership group, Aschenbach Auto Group, in February of 2017 with his first dealership in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Since then, he has been focused on building his group and will have nine dealerships by year-end. Many of King Buick GMC’s loyal employees will move with me to Aschenbach Auto Group; the majority to Ideal Hyundai Buick GMC, in Frederick, Maryland.
If you purchased a CAR CARE SERVICE MAINTENANCE PLAN from us with the purchase of your vehicle that plan will be honored at either Criswell or Ideal Buick GMC.
I personally would like to thank all of our employees over these many years for their dedication and hard work. Most importantly, I would like to thank the customers who have done business with us over the years. You are greatly appreciated.
Bill Aschenbach
